Where can I find my Golden Retriever a good adoptive home?
I have to move into an apartment that won’t take my 9year old dog. I love him dearly and don’t want him put down. I tried The Golden Retriever Rescue League but they aren’t giving me much hope. Any other suggestions? I need help fast. I was depending on the rescue league.
The other option would be Petfinder.com but PLEASE be careful. There are a ton of scammers who will offer to ship your pet to them. Never ever agree to ship your dog. Ask to meet the new owners in person and if possible at the home where they plan to bring the dog..and then ask for references and charge a suitable adoption fee. Anyone who wants a dog will be willing to pay a bit to get one. Just remember, if the home sounds too good to be true it probably is. I know how hard it is with an older dog. Hang in there! Also, ask your local Petsmart and local vets. Petsmart normally has adoption days where you could bring him and sit and possibly find him a home. At the very least they may be able to point you in the right direction. An ad in the local paper couldn’t hurt either. Good luck!!
