Is a food allergy hereditary in dogs?
I have a 2 year old golden retriever that is allergic to chicken. I was just wondering if anyone knows if it would be hereditary or not?
Neither one of his parents have a food allergy. Just hoping that it doesn’t affect his breeding chances.
I don’t think it is. We have two pit bulls and we got them when they were just weaned. They are brother and sister and neither parent had food allergies. Also, the male has terrible food allergies and can only eat duck and potato food. The female has no allergies at all.
